NASA debunks 2012 Nov. 12, 2009

Let's just assume for a second that we live in a world where people need to be reassured that the sheer ridiculousness that happens in a Roland Emmerich movie couldn't actually happen in real life. Oh wait, we DO live in that world? Yes, NASA has issued a FAQ based on 2012 to assure Americans that December 12, 2012 "won't be the end of the world." One such exchange goes a little something like this:

Q: Are there any threats to the Earth in 2012? Many Internet websites say the world will end in December 2012.
A: Nothing bad will happen to the Earth in 2012.

I might say that anyone who actually believes the world is going to end in 2012 probably won't be swayed by the "rational" and "scientific" explanations provided by NASA as to why our world won't suddenly end but they give it the ole college try. For more reasons as to why 2012 isn't going to happen in real life, click here to read their full Q&A.

Extra Tidbit: The doomsday scenario for 2012 was initially 2003 but when nothing happened they moved the date back.

firstly the doomsday senario for 2003 is totally different to the one in 2012 and the one in 1999 regarding the end due to computers freaking out on the 1st of jan 2000. plus all them are different to the 2220 one. i know they all end the same with the end of the world as we know it but all have different reasons for it to happen. surely nasa knows this but yet they use it as a reason for 2012 not to happen. i dont believe it will but i do believe in alien vampire dwarfs from mars.

Just so everybody is woken up, NOBODY gave a shit about 2012 till it became the NEXT doomsday. Before that, every few years there is evidence to say "World will end on ??/??/????!" and so many suckers believe it. Then, once that date passes, they find another one.

NASA/Astronomers know quite a bit about the sun and it's activity. I can't believe people are actually worried about this.

The interesting part of this whole FAQ is that they DO admit that a solar maximum will take place within the 2012-1024 timeframe. Now, I don't think the world will end in 2012, but I don't think even NASA can predict the sun's behavior with that kind of accuracy.

But anyway...if the world's gonna' end it'll end without us being able to predict it. That's what I believe anyway...
