I've drawn some fire for proclaiming that IRON MAN is my own most anticipated movie of the summer (particularly impressive since I've never had interest in the comic character), but this new trailer is certainly an argument in my defense.

The latest (and probably final before the flick hits theaters in May) clip presents a few scenes we've glimpsed already, but gives a stunning coat of polish, a better sense of the story and a heavy serving of Hell Yes.

Jon Favreau, you are deserving of worship.

Extra Tidbit: According to reports from early test screenings, the movie is "f*cking awesome." I'll buy that.

Trailers are nice...the sneak peaks are nice...the release of screen shots are nice. It's all nice. But...And this is a big but. Nothing matches judging a film for yourself. So screw the hype and screw the media. I for one am not gonna start saying..."This is gonna kick ass" or "This WILL be the best movie ever." I'm reserving judgment until I see it for myself. There's a good chance it ...

everything, EVERYTHING I've seen of this movie is absolutely perfect. Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, and RDJ, they all look and feel so right for this movie. number 1 most anticipated for me this year by a wide margin.

Awesome Trailer
Both trailers are awesome for this movie and director Jon Favreau definitely knows what he is doing. This is without a doubt one of my most anticipated movies of the year. Plus, Robert Downey Jr. is probably one of the most underrated actors out there and this is great news that he is becoming the next great superhero.

I'M LOOKING FORWARD...
to all of them. The Hulk, Indiana Jones, The Dark Knight, Iron Man. It amazes me how film geeks have become competitive in an almost pro sports sort of fanatacism mentality. It seemed to start around the time of The Lord of the Rings and has gotten progressively worse since then. Comments like "TDK will pwn all your asses" are the norm these days (especially at Aint' It Cool) and are thrown...
to all of them. The Hulk, Indiana Jones, The Dark Knight, Iron Man. It amazes me how film geeks have become competitive in an almost pro sports sort of fanatacism mentality. It seemed to start around the time of The Lord of the Rings and has gotten progressively worse since then. Comments like "TDK will pwn all your asses" are the norm these days (especially at Aint' It Cool) and are thrown around like fight challenges in a grade school playground. The insane ammount of nitpicking and armchair quarterbacking coming from people who claim to love movies but really don't know anything about what goes into making one is amazing. "I could have [link] [fill in the blank} better" is another common statement. You want to know something? No you couldn't. Not 99.9% of you anyway. I've been working on movies for almost 20 years. On every show there's some new PA that has a massive DVD collection, a 10000 bazillion resolution screen HD TV, can quote every line of Pulp fiction and thinks they're going to be the next Rodriguez but they can't even focus enough to put in a 12-15 hour workday. Could I direct a movie? Sure. Could I direct a good movie? probably not. As for the upcoming crop, I'll line up with the rest of you guys this summer and plunk down my hard-earned money for a ticket. If the movie is good, great. If not, all I really did was invest $9.00 and two hours. Not every meal that I ate in a restaurant, book that I read or concert that I went to was really worth the time and money but that's how it goes.

What's cool about this trailer is that it gives some motivation as to why Stark wants to get into a metal suit and blow up tanks. I'd still like to see a bit more of Stane and why he is the villain... but it's really obvious that this film is much more about Stark and his ass-kicking. That sequence of the armor assembling around Stark is fuckin' awesome! All said... great casting of Stark and S...

Let's hope it's not a false expectation like "AVP 2:Requiem" (more like "Rectum").
But seriously, the pedigree in this mofo shows some serious mojo. And after watching this trailer I'm happier than a Catholic priest in a kindergarten. And I'm a Prostestant!

I'm still not gasping with excitement over this movie, but it looks very entertaining and I'm sure I will check it out opening weekend as the kickoff for the 2008 summer season.

EXCITEMENT
Yes, excitement. Admittedly, there's something about the CGI that turns me off a smidge (like Stark's face in the suit before the mask closes in on him), but these are minor things I hope will be polished a little more before release.

OMFG!
Before this trailer, Iron Man was a distant third behind TDK and Indy 4. After, now it's a pretty damn close 2nd behind TDK (sorry Indy). Excuse while I try to pry my jaw off the floor.

HOLY CRAP
That was fucking insane. I was already fairly interested, but now I am a tad excited. I LOVE the fact that he cannot suit up on his own; he needs that mechanical rig to snap the suit onto him - it makes the suit seem that much more powerful. I just shit my pants again.
