New Terminator model? Jul. 17, 2008
Source: AICNClinton News Record
by: Dave Davis

Warning: potential SPOILERS below!

Is this how McG's currently shooting TERMINATOR SALVATION is circumventing Arnold Schwarzenegger's gubernatorial unavailability -- by replacing him with a reasonable facsimile?

That seems to be the case. Arnie's fellow Austrian bodybuilder Roland Kickinger will reportedly be stepping into the human-hunting flesh-on-metal character of the T-800 (Cyberdyne Systems model 101), or so the massive chap told Canadian publication Clinton News Record. "There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy," Kickinger reveals, probably inadvertently. "It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about."

Kickinger has been kicking around Hollywood for a few years, popping up in various sitcoms and appearing as a regular on the BAYWATCH parody SON OF THE BEACH. He certainly bears sufficient facial and physique likeness to pull off playing a believable Arnie proxy -- hell, he already played him in a 2005 TV movie, but see for yourself:

Extra Tidbit: You know this poor dude probably made an innocent comment about his TERMINATOR part, never expecting it to blast around the internets at the speed of broadband. Whoops.

FITS THE STORYLINE
This makes perfect sense to me continuity wise. If you recall in the first Terminator, Reese has a flashback to the futuristic battle versus the terminators when one of them infiltrates their barracks. That terminator was played by Franco Columbu, Arnold's Mr. Olympia training partner. The terminators ALL looked like bodybuilders in that period of time so it makes sense to cast Kickinger.

@ NuclearMisfit The new terminator movies is going to be a trilogy with the last one ending with Rease going back in time.

@Preston_79... F*ck that. Arnold is a god dam NAZI. His dad was a Nazi warlord in Austria and when he came to this county he said he wants to be the King of America and that we should worship him as a god. Got involved with the skull and bones and is now on the future presidents list in bohemian grove. Arnold is a racist wife beating warmonger and need to be deported back to Austria.

re theshadowwalker: I also think Lance Henriksen would've made an excellent Terminator. Sure, he wouldn't have been the unstoppable machine, but he would have been much creepier, like Robert Patrick in T2.

RE: REDDWARFFAN

Long story short? Cameron wanted Henriksen to play the Terminator...and the suits wanted Schwarzenegger to play Reese (!!!) but, knowing that Schwarzenegger wouldn't be able to handle all of Reese's expository dialog, Cameron compromised and cast Schwarzenegger as the Terminator.

At least, that's what I've heard.

lance henriksen? dam, that would have been creepy as hell but i think he could have pulled it off. A great actor and has a bigger vocabulary.

At the risk of being flamed alive, I've always thought that James Cameron's original choice for the Terminator, Lance Henriksen, would've been 1,000 times more menacing, creepy and intense than Schwarzenegger.

And, if you were building a cyborg infiltrator, would you want it to look like Schwarzenegger (or the guy pictured above)...or like a more, well, normal looking person?

so, are they going to CGI Arnie's face on him?

Since when do you need to act to play a Terminator?

Hopefully this new "model" doesn't have the acting ability equal to some of WWE (or WWF I don't know) action films. Some of them are just plain awful.
