I get that some of the shots in the trailer could be from flashbacks or earlier chapters, but Nite Owl II is supposed to be chubby by the time they get to the prison scene (or any scene he shares with Silk Spectre II). The suit shouldn't hide that. |

My boyfriend and I are currently reading Watchmen. Uh, well, he reads while I listen, and we study the pics together.
The book is an amazingly rich text, what with all of the genre mixing and bending and allusions to major literary texts.
And, strangely, the book is having such an effect on me that I dream about it.
I am almost ashamed to say I've never read it, though I'm too busy enjoying the heck out of it to be really ashamed.
I hope the film does it justice. And, hey, at least the director has his storyboards done (and many shots I've seen thus far in trailers, etc. look like the text, so that's good).
Schmoes should read this. Today.

The fact that you are a Lost fan, and haven't read the Watchmen is shocking. Its one of the creators major influences.
Also, Nite Owl II is a pastiche on Batman, so you noticed it. Much like Nite Owl I is a patsiche on The Phantom. He's not a rip-off at all!
The comic had lots of inside jokes about the comics of the mid 80s... and the movie version is doing some similar things with the designs of the character's costumes. Have you not noticed Ozymandia's rubber nipples in the trailers?!? |

im gonna be completely honest. I know nothing about watchmen, never read it, but I want to. I really think that the night owl or whatever the fuck his name is looks like a cheesy Batman rip off. He just looks so fucking corny.. so does that chick. The Comedian looks amazing, as does Mr. Ink blot.. but I'm not completely sold on the rest of them.
Movie does look excellent though. |

You guys seem to post "old" pictures of various movies quite often, making whole articles talking about them as if they were new. I guess it's not you guys' fault; you just need better contacts, or tippers, or scoopers, or whatever damn terminology you guys use.

This movie is drawing a sad line, on which I am on the old fart side of things. I feel like if you haven't read this, and aren't aware of its influence on comics that you think rock, it makes you sound ignorant to people who have.
I'm not knockin' the groms out there who haven't read it - but you can get your hands on a reprint at any big box book store.
The only downside, is that it make the storyline for so many comics look like shit comparatively after you read it. You expectations will unalterably go up after your first reading. |
