It was an art trying to score this interview with Catherine Hardwicke. Totally understandable though considering she's directing a movie or something... and that seems like a pretty full time job. Lucky for us she took the time to run over and grant a few questions on a couple of occasions between directing the film TWILIGHT.

I'd just spent a few hours listening Gillian Anderson film a scene on THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE. Sadly all I could hear were loud footsteps and a slammed door (which Anderson would later say was just an accident). I thought for sure I could get her to spill the beans. While slightly more forthcoming than her counterparts, Anderson stopped short of telling me exactly what she was doing back there. (Lucky for you, I later was able to sneak a peek at that very scene - more on that to come at a later day...)

H. Legends: Heather Langenkamp

It is no secret that I love the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series. When I first experienced the original, it terrified me so much that I knew I was hearing Freddy’s gloves coming from my attic. It was such a powerful film which was made more powerful by such a likable cast. Heather Langenkamp was such a breath of fresh air as Nancy. She was not your typical horror movie heroine. I bought her ultimate victory over this boogeyman with knives for fingers because of her performance. I liked her so much that I even watched “Just the Ten of Us” for the sole purpose that I got to watch her on a weekly basis.

INT: Christa Campbell

Christa Campbell is a stunning beauty. She is also a pretty damn good actress. And most importantly, she loves horror and continues to work in our beloved genre. It was Tim Sullivan’s 2001 MANIACS that showed the world how temptingly dangerous a milk maiden could be. She has since added a number of horror films to her resume including the recent DAY OF THE DEAD, a sort of “remake” of the George Romero classic. And frankly, I had fun with this one (although I think it should have been called something else besides Day of the Dead) and I especially had fun seeing Christa in a very different character.

Unless you're very familiar with low-budget monster movies with titles like MAMMOTH or KRAKEN: TENTACLES OF THE DEEP, then the name Sean Keller might be unfamiliar at the moment. Well, that will most likely change within the year, as the screenwriter is leaving behind the Sci-Fi channel movies and moving into much more hallowed ground. With co-writer Jim Agnew, Keller has sold screenplays to horror icons Dario Argento and John Carpenter. Those names you may have heard of.

INT: Robert Kurtzman

Robert Kurtzman knows a thing or two about special effects. If you don’t believe me, look at this man’s resume. He has been a part of so many genre (and even a few non-genre) films that it would be ridiculous to try and list them all. As a director, Mr. Kurtzman brought us the groovy WISHMASTER starring the great Andrew Divoff. And now, he is going back old-school with the gory and fun schlocker, THE RAGE. It is a b-movie at its finest, with killer vultures, transvestite little people and an homage to the Ed Wood classic BRIDE OF THE MONSTER.

INT: Neil Marshall

I really enjoy Neil Marshall as a director. I loved DOG SOLDIERS, and THE DESCENT was such a fantastic horror film, that he quickly became one to watch in my eyes. When I last talked to him he was talking DOOMSDAY, and now, it is finally here. What could be taken by any other director as another 28 DAYS LATER, looks to be something quite different with Neil at the helm. He knows horror and he knows suspense. He has a knack for creating edge of your seat entertainment.

INT: Andrew Divoff

In Robert Kurtzman’s THE RAGE, the clever genre splicing film takes a stab at animals gone amuck and the mad scientist horror flicks. Put it together and you’ve got fun times in B-movie land. And if you add the great Andrew Divoff as the crazed doctor, Dr. V, you have yourself one hell of a time watching this warped horror pic with transvestite little people. Mr. Divoff is one class act on screen (and off). His villains are always memorable, especially his work as the WISHMASTER. But he has done so much more in his career including a recent stint on “Lost”.

INT: Adrian Paul

Adrian Paul is a familiar name to all the fans of HIGHLANDER. His work on the series as Duncan MacLeod has earned him status as a cult hero. And since then, he has continued to carry on the series in film. But to say that is his only claim to fame is way off. He is constantly working, including a film he is shooting in Budapest called NINE MILES DOWN. It is great to see him continue to work in the horror/fantasy genre.

INT: Anessa Ramsey

There is something about a great leading lady in horror that seems to be missing these days. I’m talking about that quality that Jamie Lee Curtis or someone like Amy Steel had. I love the heroines that looked fragile enough to be the victim, yet smart enough to survive the nightmare. And if you long for the non-CW scream queen, you can get down on your knees and thank whoever, because Anessa Ramsey is that kind of leading lady. Her work in the fantastic new film THE SIGNAL definitely makes her one of my favorite women of horror. Smart? You got it. Sexy? Yep and not in a plastic sort of way. And vulnerable as hell, damn right! She is the real deal.
