After talking about his desire to make a Guitar Hero movie, Brett Ratner, it seems, has been denied the opportunity. Apparently the Gods of good taste, after having sat with their heads up their asses while RUSH HOUR 2-3 were made and BEVERLY HILLS COP 4 was announced, finally empowered somebody, and that somebody is Activision. Ratner said:
"I'd really like to do it, but they're not letting me... I expressed my interest, but because it's such a success, it's like now there's no reason to make a movie about it.... The game is wish-fulfilling, everyone can be a rock star... I might prevail... I usually do."
I don't like to get ahead of myself but I can't help but hope this is like when Chitewel Ejiofor asks for help from the guy he made eat his dinner off the floor at the end of FOUR BROTHERS. Soon everyone else will turn against Ratner too and then Mark Wahlberg will appear out of the frozen tundra and beat his ass just for good measure. Literally or figuratively, it really makes no difference to me - you don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Extra Tidbit:
Ratner's apparently loves Hal Ashby.

It really boggles the mind that he not only thought of this idea, but is also upset that he isn't allowed to do it. What the hell kind of a passion project is a Guitar Hero movie? Maybe he'll move onto a Sims movie now. Or maybe a movie based on an X-Men game. |

DO WE NEED THIS?
I love playing Guitar Hero, but does it NEED a movie? I'm sure a movie of the week will suffice.
Bret needs to play 'Director Hero'. When he completes the EASY level, he should resume his career. |

Sounds like they need Uwe Boll. If anyone can take a decent concept of a video game and turn it into a piss-poor movie... it's Boll. So... you have a video game (while fun) has a piss-poor concept, you could end up with a decent flick. Then again... Boll will just make another turd. |

Why does Hollywood still keep this guy around? Seriously. The guy's such a f*cknut. He doesn't have the calibre of a great filmmaker. The only reason X-Men 3 was even 1/4 as epic as it could have been was because Bryan Singer had already worked on the concept art. Bret Ratner's a tool...who the f*ck even talks to this guy anymore? How can they stand him?! I'm angry again 'cause although I like Guitar Hero, I love God Of War more...and we all know this dumbf*ck was interested in making a movie outta' it before Guitar Hero. God I can't even imagine what a pile o' shit that'd turn out to be. Hopefully he doesn't look that way again now that Activision kicked his ass out the door. Somebody drop this guy on an isolated island...PLEASE! |
