This is pretty sad news, since I'm pretty sure a lot of us - even though we knew it was unrealistic - still hoped that we would one day get a sequel to THE PROFESSIONAL (or 'LEON'). Unfortunately, Natalie Portman has quashed any fantasy we might have, since she recently told MTV that "I really love that film... And I would work with [director] Luc Besson again, in a second, but [not on a sequel].” Fortunately this thing worked out like a punch to the nuts (hurts at first, but you feel better afterwards, appreciating how it feels to not be punched in the nuts and proud you can take the hit), since she also said she'd never do another STAR WARS film either.
Oh well, so that's out the window. But here's my idea; how about a prequel, without Portman or Jean Reno, just chronicling the rise of Norman Stansfield. Is it just me, or is he pretty much the coolest villain of all time? I think that would be awesome, although we'd need some wicked CGI to de-age the hell out of Gary Oldman. Portman also discusses her role in the upcoming BROTHERS, with Tobey Maguire (SPIDERMAN) and Jake Gyllenhaal (almost SPIDERMAN), which you can check out HERE.
Extra Tidbit:
Portman is apparently fashion designer Zac Posen's muse.

To be honest, I'd rather have no sequel than a bad sequel that mars the original (looks pointedly at the Wachowski Brothers). Anyone looking for more Leon - I'd highly recommend finding a copy of the 2-disc Director's Cut: About 30 minutes of fantastic new scenes. I got mine from Amazon Germany, don't know if it's available in the US :) |

WHEW, RELIEF
I thought you were talking about Leon from Curb your Enthusiasm.
That guy is fucking funny!
Seriously, Portman has the body of a 12 year old boy... no thanks. |

Well crap. If this isn't being made, I guess I should give up all hope on JENNY: Commando II, huh? |

Probably for the best though, I'd rather the movie stand on its own be remember for what it is rather than run the risk of a poorly executed sequel that could possibly taint the original. I def wouldn't mind a new Besson flick though... |

Not that I ever thought she WOULD do a sequel, but I'm ever thankful Mathilda stayed in school and didn't get mixed up with any more corrupt feds. Honestly, Stans is dead, LEON is dead, and Tony ain't gettin' any younger himself.
And Stansfield is too wacko to ever get analyzed in a prequel. That's what made him so goddamn cool. You never ask HOW he gets away with the shit he does, he just does it. A prequel would just make him a lot less freaky. Even if it did explain what that funky pill was. |

No prequel. Sequel would have been nice. Natalie in a tight assassin uniform... drool... |

JUST WAIT...
... until she's in her mid-forties and not hot A-lister, or cute anymore. Bet she does a role that mirrors the professional with her in Leon's position around then. And I wish she would eat a few cheese burgers, she's got the body of a 14 year old. |

could everyone please shutup about the "a prequel/sequel/remake is always a bad idea" thing? Because seriously sometimes they actually do work out. sometimes they are better than teh first. and I agree that many movies simply do not need a pre/sequel/remake but everyone always states it like its a bad idea no matter what. and thats not right. |

Here's a better idea: How about a new, original movie instead of another hackeyed and substandard prequel that will just ruin the franchise?
PS: I agree, that's a hot pic of Portman. |

I suppose they could always go the prequel rout, assuming anyone cares enough to run this notion into the ground. All in all I'd say we got off lucky. |
