Now Reynolds wants Deadpool

Yep, I was pretty sure that Ryan Reynolds and The Flash went together like a horse and carriage, but now Reynolds is talking about a different comic book character that he just might be even better to play: Deadpool.

Nicknamed the 'Merc with a Mouth' because of his constant wisecracks about pop-culture, Deadpool has been portrayed as a mercenary, an anti-hero and even a villain, which makes it difficult for a film about him to be made, as Reynolds observes:

"It’s a very tricky character to do... It’s hard R. It’s ambiguous whether he’s good or bad. He’s a mercenary. This is all to say nothing of the fact that his face is made entirely of scar tissue... These are huge issues... Hopefully, there’ll be [somebody] who has the balls to go there and make a really authentic, decent ‘Deadpool’ movie.”

It sounds like Reynolds really wants to do the comic book movie again, and I hope he gets the chance. He's a good young actor and I've thought he was funny in everything I've seen of his that didn't star Wesley Snipes. So I guess all we need now is a ballsy director... I'll say what everyone's thinking: Uwe Boll.

Extra Tidbit: Deadpool got his mutant powers from the Canadian paramilitary Weapon-X program, who infused Wolverine with his adamantium skeleton.

Make this movie and make it right..
I for one really hope this movie someday gets made. My friends don't think Deadpool could carry an entire movie by himself: not enough ppl. know him. But I think a Deadpool flick could be a groundbreaking comic movie. Firstly: it can't take itself too seriously. At all. 2nd: it has to be sarcastic as hell--and yes, Deadpool would break the fourth wall and talk to the audience. 3rd: depending on...

(4th: absolutely, no freakin' Cable). I would love to write a Deadpool script.

Maybe he could cameo in a Wolverine flick first or something? Just to ingratiate him to the non-comic crowd?

Reynolds i thinks a awesome choice for deadpool! I actually think he would be quite skilled as the character...but he does know 99% of the time you never see his face?!

clive owen as deadpool?! uhhhh....no. reynolds would make an awesome deadpool, granted the script is well done. dont get me wrong, clive owens a badass...but can you picture clive owen pulling off the "sarcastic asshole merc?" or do you think the consistantly wise-cracking ryan reynolds whom also has the build and attitude for the character could pull off a deadpool?

I'm assuming Thoo is just going by the movies? X2 seemed less complex than what you described.

As for Reynolds, he's a great actor who unfortuantly gets some bad scripts. But he'd be pretty good in this.

I've said it since he was first cast as Hannibal King, that the only comic book role he would work as is Deadpool (mainly because of his 2 Guys, A Girl, And A Pizza Place days). Clive Owen, although great, couldn't pull it off unless they drastically changed the character. And Paul Bettany as The Flash? I like Bettany as much as the next guy, but as Wally West? I disagree on that.

As i said before, keep him away from comic book adaptations. You want Flash? How about Paul Bettany. You want Deadpool? How about Clive Owen. Definitely better choices than Reynolds.

I think Deadpool is the wise-cracking anit-hero that Reynolds was born to play! Esspecialy if he's willing to do the movie in which his pretty boy faced isn't shown and he's all mutated under that mask.

John Kassir, voice of the Cryptkeeper, played Deadpool in Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Ryan Reynolds needs to hurry up and do either Flash or Deadpool already. I'm tired of hearing how he wants to do it.

okay, i'll play the fanboy this round
Wolverine didn't get his mutant powers from Weapon-X, he got the adamantium bonding from Weapon-X. His claws, healing factor, animal instincts, etc., were his genetic mutations for years before he and the program crossed paths. A Deadpool movie would rock, though. :c)

I really like Reynolds. So I'm totally down with this. I mean I wouldn't mind seeing him in both Deadpool and Flash.... as long as they're good.

He was hilarious in Amityville Horror! (JK) ;)

I had no clue who Deadpool was before playing "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" on Xbox. He's a kick ass character, but will he have the name recognition to pull in box office bucks for a hard R movie?

P.S. From what I recall of my minimal exposure to X-Men....Wolverine didn't get his powers from the Weapon-X program. Like...
