It looks like vampire-defining author Bram Stoker is pulling a Tupac, seeing his material released long after his demise.
The material in question is a follow-up to his famous bloodsucker book DRACULA, a "family authorized sequel" titled THE UN-DEAD. The story will reportedly take place in London years after the events of the first novel, and finds the Dracula-killing heroes being stalked by a new threat.
The book, to be published late next year, comes from Stoker's great-grandnephew (which seems a fairly tenuous family connection) Dacre Stoker, and Dracula historian Ian Holt. The story is an expansion of Bram Stoker's original notes for DRACULA, and is described as "a virtually seamless continuation of the original."
Needless to say, a movie adaptation is already in the works, with Jan de Bont (TWISTER, SPEED) producing. Filming is expected to begin before the book even hits shelves.
Extra Tidbit:
Stoker's original book has never been out of print.

Scratch that..I just remembered an animaniacs parody called "Dracula 2" where they return to the castle and unnecessarily suspenseful music reveals that yes, Dracula is still dead from the last time, ending the skit abruptly.
If that doesn't happen here, I can't imagine where they could possibly go with it. |

Heh. They did it with Gone With The Wind, They did it with The Godfather, they did it with Peter Pan. I guess it was just Dracula's turn. |

"VIRTUALLY SEAMLESS" MY ASS!
It's already waaaaay past pathetic, but now to ruin one of the most classic stories from his Great Grand nephew is so lame, it's sad. I hope that people see this for what it is, a waste of everyone's time. The original Stoker is constantly spinning in his grave now. |

I'm neutral for now, but I have a bad feeling about this one, for some reason.
@unitedvision: I've never heard of any Catholic hatred for Dracula. As far as Harry Potter goes, that whole story was cooked up by a German Harry Potter hater who wanted quotes for her book.
In 2001, Monsignor Peter Fleetwood, representing the Vatican, said that as far as he was concerned, the Harry Potter series was "congruent with Christian values." The current pope, Benedict XVI, has publicly said that, although he's never read HP, that he has total respect for Msgr. Fleetwood's judgement.

TO FANS OF THE COPOLLA ADAPTATION
It was an interesting stylized movie - but it was not a very good adaptation. It certainly didn't jive with keeping the author's name in the title - which suggests it would have been more faithful to Stoker's version. |

DRACULA 2: THE BLOODENING
Once again, if done well, it could be very cool. This is also somewhat similar to what Tolkien's kid's did with his notes and now we have a total of 6 books and many spinoffs of that original tale based on J.R.R.'s notes. Of course, if this all takes off we could be looking at several book/movie sequels as Dracula is one of the more intriguing characters ever created and has spawned countless movies as well as a genre that is probably the most lucrative in horror. |

If Coppola and Oldman don't reunite to make a movie, then there's no point in making a movie adaptation for it. |
