Devin over at CHUD got a very interesting and long answer to a BOURNE question while interviewing Paul Greengrass about GREEN ZONE.

Back in December, we caught wind that Greengrass was leaving the fourth film in the series due to "creative differences". From Matt Damon's perspective, he had seemed rather optimistic, but when he talked about a reboot it was fair to say that his days as Jason Bourne were done. That on top of his loyalty to Greengrass.

Here's what the director had to say, "I have moved on. I finished [Green Zone] in July, had the summer off, and I came back and thought I could find a way to get engaged and make [a fourth Bourne film], [but] I thought in my head there were so many other things and films I wanted to make. I didn't have the fire in my belly. Not that I don't like Jason Bourne, not that I'm not extremely grateful to the franchise, not that I'm extremely close to the studio - there were no arguments. I didn't feel like I had anything else to contribute. It just happens with franchises; you get to a point where you feel like you've done it."

Even without him, Greengrass sees the franchise continuing as well as his association with Universal, "They need to find someone else to come in to take it in a new direction I wouldn't have thought of and it will be better. I'll continue to make movies with the studio, and I'll continue to make movies with Matt, because there are a lot of movies I'd like to make with him. In the end in your creative journey through life you need new challenges, and I've come to that place."

So, what's Greengrass looking to do next? "Could it be a romantic comedy? Probably not. It'll probably be some gigantic action movie, but it'll be fun and new."

Excuse me
I'm sorry, but is Greengrass striking a sensual pose? Ridiculous!

Bourne = Green Zone
I don't get it. He doesnt want to make another Bourne. But instead of changing genres and actors he does a bourne-looking movie with Matt Damon again...

Bourne Trilogy Was Enough
As has been said, I am fine with the Bourne trilogy being finished it was a nice arc and it's done. One problem I have with the movie, is that there is so much action and the camerawork is so frenetic, that I have trouble differentiating the movies from one another. I don't know why, but I can watch one of them and not remember exactly what happened the next day.

I think this is fine. Bourne is posibly the only franchise ever to go from pretty good, to great, to excellent with the sequels. The trilogy is solid, we can leave it be and let someone else fuck up the inevitable reboot. We'll always have Ultimatum.

A Greengrass rom-com full of shaky-cam and split-second editing *has* to be made ASAP. Oh, and MATT DAY-MUNNN!

Bourne Identity & Ultimatum rocked. Supremacy was the weakest of the bunch, losing Greengrass isn't the worst thing to happen to the franchise. In fact things get tired when you have the same team on for more than 2 entries. He's also seemingly tired of Bourne because he basically made a fourth one in Green Zone. At least that's what it looks like.

I'm only posting for the extra tidbit but I also think the same thing when I hear his name. It's funny how almost everyone else thinks the same thing too. Good job Stone and Parker.

Yeah after watching Team America it's impossible for me not to laugh every time I see Damon. They really hit it out of the park with that gag.

MATT... DAY-MON
I ended up liking the series far more than I had anticipated (oh, and I do the same thing, in reference to your extra tidbit) but Bourne is done. It was wrapped up well and it doesn't need to be tinkered with. Three installments should always be enough (except in the FAST & THE FURIOUS case, in which you can eliminate the Tokyo version, ha).

that's awesome
to hear someone just say something like that... I hope he really means it and it's not something he's just saying in the hopes that they throw more money at him. but that's the cynical side of me. i also like that's looking to continue in the action genre.

At least he is honest
He doesn't need to add anything more to this franchise. Time for a fresh prospective. He made Superemacy and Ultimatium amazing.
