don't normally run "rumors", but we've been getting a lot
of emails from fans of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN flicks, asking why
there has been so little information out there about the next
installment, AT WORLD'S END, despite the fact that we're only about
2 1/2 months from its release (May 25th). There is no official
website yet, no teaser or trailer of any kind (remember last year
when Disney released its awe-inspiring teaser for DEAD MAN'S CHEST
during the Superbowl-- and that film was released in July, as
opposed to May for this installment),
almost no pictures that we can publish without receiving a
"cease and desist" decree from the Man behind the Mouse,
no posters, and now rumblings that things are going slower than
anticipated in the editing room and that the film may not make its
official May 25th release date? Heck, Disney is still mum about
whether or not Rolling Stone Keith Richards is even making an
appearance in the film (which I could seriously care less about
myself)!
I
personally highly doubt that the film will get postponed, as studios
claim their release spots like they were gold-mines, and hopefully
Disney will start spraying the love for the film over the next few
weeks, but in a year where films like WILD HOGS, STOMP THE YARD and
NORBIT are the "big hits" so far, I've temporarily given
up on making predictions. By the way, the film is officially called
AT WORLD'S END, right? Right? So secretive, them buggers...

It's to late to postpone it people July is way to packed. They already have a trailer ready from what I hear. So Don't be surprised if it's not postponed. |

I gaurantee they are going to move it further away from Spiderman 3. Not even the Pirate wants a piece of spidey.
I am sure they will claim they need to do finishing touches, but it will be because of spidey. |

I don't see why there's any reason to panic.
Sure -- there's no trailer yet. But maybe that's a strategy -- SHREK 3, SPIDER-MAN3 and whatever others come out in May, and they're all releasing their trailers right about now (or a few weeks before now, to now). Maybe the Mouse is thinking, if we backload most of the promotion for POTC3, unloading the new trailers later, bombarding the TVs with spots LATER, then audiences will have that fresh excitement feeling still in their gut when our film comes out, instead of it being something they've been waiting for for six months, and have seen so-so 7mn HD clips of already, and repetitive posters, etc etc. |

It would not surprise me at all if Pirates is postponed. I think there are going to be too many heavy hitters in May with the third installments of Shrek, Spider Man and Pirates of the Carribean scheduled to be released. I have felt for a while one would end up being postponned due the the huge competition. I think moving Pirates to it's usual early July release date would be a wise move by Disney. |

Apparently Pirates 4 will begin shooting this summer with Depp, but without Knightley and Bloom. So I cant see how this one is delayed when they're already getting on the next. |
