DO IT DOUG!!!!...
You totally misread my post. I didn't say that Potter should've been released this summer with Batman. I meant WB should've done their homework and announced the move to 2009 months ago. It would've been less of a gut-punch to fans instead of waiting until just 3-months out. And as far as the energy-kill, again, delaying the next Potter, or any big film for that matter, by 8-months when the original release date was only 3-months away does kill the building energy of rabid fans like myself. Sure, once July 09 roles around excitement will hit a fever pitch. But, until then hard-core Potter fans are left with the hollow fact that their next Potter fix is nearly 1 year away. You can criticize me all you want, but my opinion is that WB's decision stinks. They would've made boatloads of revenue off a winter Potter release. Again, the highest grossing Potter film was the 1st one, released in November 2001. |

I only thought one of the Potter movies (Goblet of Fire) was good and two were okay (Chamber and Azkaban) but the first one and the Phoenix one were shit IMO. In other words I don't give a fuck about this series. |

man i know you guys are excited about Watchmen, but comparing its potential box office success to Dark Knight is just ridiculous. i know it looks sick for people who care about it, but thats not what makes the box office. expect more a Hellboy/Sin City type of box office return than anything close to Dark Knight, which is why it wouldnt be such a great move to move it to the summer season because of the intense release schedule |

CAPTAIN...
what energy does it kill? hell, i'm a huge fan and i've heard almost nothing about this movie. all the buzz has been with batman. it's pretty simple. next summer is a better time for them to release. nothing is slated to come out along with it to battle with. and why the hell would they bump it forward and release it along with batman??? yeah, good idea, lets have two huge franchises on the same studio compete... |

HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-ASSED RELEASE DATE
To me, Harry Potter has always felt like a Winter franchise. I find it odd that WB chose to move the film's release to Summer citing it would have a better chance to reap more cash in July, when the highest grossing Potter pic was released in November 2001. More to the point, if WB wanted to move the film to a summer slot, they should have done so months ago and not waited until after trailers hit both traditional and IMAX theaters. It looks desperate and kills the energy of the release. No matter how they spin this, WB has given a resounding F-YOU to Potter fans everywhere. WB execs seems fit to reward fan loyalty and support with utter disrespect and disdain. Pick a date and stick to it. |

Yep, Strider; Alfonso Cuarón directed the best HP flick so far. Looks like it'll stay that way. |

There is no way Watchmen is making over 200 million at the box office in America. Part of me thinks that many will be disappointed because hes sticking to the novel as much as he can which is cool but the novel isnt the most action packed GN |

This particular piece of release date-shifting news doesn't bother me one bit. And that's because the teaser trailer was so underwhelming. I don't give a damn if it was only a teaser, it was all "meh" and no "wow." Not to mention that, as far as I'm concerned, Order of the Phoenix is the weakest HP installment since Sorcerer's Stone.
Seriously, am I the only person who's disappointed by the fact that WB hired David Yates to helm not only Half-Blood Prince but part 1 and 2 of Deathly Hallows as well?
I have a name of a director that WB should've considered brining back: Alfonso Cuarón. End of story.
As you can tell, I'm not very excited about this franchise anymore. July 2009, you say? Fine by me. Hell, it could be July 2020, and I still wouldn't mind.

The time shift makes total sense to me, even though I am slightly disappointed. I mean, I never thought much of the HP movies, (have never come close to doing justice to the books) but the preview for Half-Blood Prince gave me hope that it will be the best yet.
As for the extra tid-bit, Radcliffe will have some work to do to get rid of his HP past, but he's intelligent in the fact that he's already started to prove that he can do more. I didn't see his last movie (Something Boys?) but I heard excellent reviews about his stage performance in London when he was in EQUUS. A few of my friends were fortunate enough to see it and they all said it was by far better than anything he's done in the Potter films. And now that England's seen what more he can do, EQUUS will be coming to New York sometime in the near-future to prove himself to Americans. |
