Pumpkins Hit Screens Oct. 9, 2008
Source: EW
by: Daniel Barna

You know it's a slow news night when Billy Corgan is making news on a movie website. Although I must admit, I was a big Smashing Pumpkins fan back when I had acne (and so were you), Billy and co. haven't done much these days to warrant any legitimate press. Did anyone even buy their comeback CD? Well apparently, the outspoken Mr. Corgan made a film called IF ALL GOES WRONG, which is being described as an intimate chronicling of the band's unconventional 19-concert stint in Asheville, N.C., and San Francisco as part of their 2007 reunion. Rather than simply being released on DVD, the documentary will get a single date in theatres on Nov. 6th in 40 cities across the U.S. It features interviews with the band, journalists, fans and fellow musicians and if nothing else, it might be interesting to see what Corgan's bald cranium looks like when its 20 feet long and 60 feet wide.

I love the Pumpkins but I sure wish Billy could get James Iha and Darcy back. The new album was okay but doesn`t even touch the old stuff.

I have to say out of all the bands I was obsessed with in high school they're one of the few I still listen to regularly. They're comeback CD actually got relatively good reviews too, Rolling Stone gave it 4/5 and EW gave it 8/10. It also hit #2 on the sales charts. All in all not bad for a comeback (although not as successful as some).

As for my favorite song, I know it's one of their most famous ones, but 1979 is an utterly perfect song. Cherub Rock is a close second and my favorite non-single would be Mayonaise.

This could be interesting.

As for my favorite pumpkins song...I'd have to say either 1979 or Disarm.

We got the album to get tickets to see them early. It was amazing, I wish I would have seen the original lineup but beggars can't be choosers.

My favorite song is all of them. I can't chose. Tonight, Tonight always works though. The video will forever be amazing.

It's between Jellybelly, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Tonight Tonight and Today. Oh and 1979 of course.

I always thought his voice sounded awful. Like he's pushing out a shit while he sings, and as I get older it just sounds worse every time I hear one of their sons.

DESPITE ALL MY RAGE
I've always been a big Pumpkins fan, so I was stoked when they put out Zeitgeist, which wasn't as bad as some folks makes it out to be, it just wasn't as strong as their previous albums. It was a typical Pumpkins album (read: different than all of their previous albums), and at least it was unique, unlike the same old garbage that certain bands put out every friggin' year.

I'll be sure to snag this doc when it hits.

Cherub Rock, baby.
