Red Dawn news

A few weeks ago, we told you about MGM planning to remake John Milus’ 1984 classic RED DAWN. At the time, it was merely a suggestion but apparently MGM is serious about getting this bad boy on the big screen. They’ve hired RED EYE and DISTURBIA scribe Carl Ellsworth to write and veteran second unit director Dan Bradley to take the reins. The film centered on a group of high schoolers who face off against Soviets at the start of a fictitious World War III and Ellsworth intends to keep the paranoia and intensity of the original. He says “The tone is going to be very intense, very much keeping in mind the post-9/11 world that we’re in. As ‘Red Dawn’ scared the heck out of people in 1984, we feel that the world is kind of already filled with a lot of paranoia and unease, so why not scare the hell out of people again?” Because the news is already doing a damn good job.
