Ladies and gentlemen, I have the official first nomination for the "who gives a shit" award this year: The planned sequel to RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION is set for a September 17, 2010. That means cancel your bbq's, ditch your overweight sister at the prom, and tell your mother you'll cut her toe nails some other time. This is a must-see event. Director Paul W.S. Anderson revealed late last year that he was indeed writing the next film in the awkward series which is tentatively titled RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE. The story will shift to Tokyo, Japan, which means we should all simultaneously crap our pants in anticipation. That, or eat a Vietnamese sub, otherwise known as a banh mi.

Extra Tidbit: four RESIDENT EVIL films? Really?

I happen to love the resident evil films minus the second one, which many disliked including milla. I do not understand why everyone has to put it down because it is not a faithful adation to the game series. The resident evil game series is my favorite game series and I am glad that the movies are unlike the game because, I want to watch a movie with new ideas, I don't want to watch a movie about a game I just played no matter how good it was. Also paul anderson is not becoming like uwe boll, paul is still making good movies, like death race, and his AVP was a heck of a lot better than AVP Requiem. RE:4 will be great, and people will see it.

They dont listen to the fans at all and the only time they try to throw fans a bone is when they name drop a character from the game like Wesker as the end of the 3rd film. I for one would welcome the idea of a reboot of this franchise with someone talented writing/directing like Alexandre Aja or Neil Marshall. Its a damn shame, when i think Resident Evil 4 i think amazing video game not WS Andersons latest shitty movie, go ruin another franchise like he did with Mortal Kombat or Alien Vs Predator.

I can't believe they're actually making a fourth film and not remaking the 2nd game which is what every resident evil fan wants. Why the hell have they green lit this?
I brought the new game on the first day it came out and me and my friend pulled an all nighter and played it from start to finish and I can honestly say I'll be nowhere near a cinema when this unholy steaming turd splats on screens.

The games are some of the best zombie stories told in any media, and Sony butchered them by hiring that douche Paul WS Anderson THREE TIMES! I don't know why that guy is still alive, let alone making films. This is why you shouldn't have any faith in Sony doing a decent Uncharted film. They killed Resident Evil, they killed Spider-Man, and they will most likely kill Ghostbusters by hiring Judd Apatow cast members to act as replacements. Now they've green lit a Resident Evil 4, no suprise there. They are almost as bad as Fox, who also hired Anderson when he screwed up Alien vs. Predator (a concept so unscrewable by nature). So yeah, screw this crap. Wake me up when they reboot the franchise or release another Degeneration CG film.
