Even on a day as fantastically slow as this one, I struggle to find the energy to care about SAW IV. I think Darren Bousman never should have agreed to return for a fourth film partly because I think he's a talented guy wasting away on this deteriorating formula and partly because I just don't care about the SAW universe anymore. As Tyra Banks would say, "SO. WHAT." But I know there are some die hards among you and perhaps SAW IV details will appeal to you. Lionsgate today released an official synopsis for the film along with a full cast listing. This is what you can expect to sleep through see in SAW IV:
Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead.
Now, upon the news of Detective Kerry's murder, two seasoned FBI profilers, Agent Strahm and Agent Perez, arrive in the terrified community to assist the veteran Detective Hoffman in sifting through Jigsaw's latest grizzly remains and piecing together the puzzle.
However, when SWAT Commander Rigg is abducted and thrust into a game, the last officer untouched by Jigsaw has but ninety minutes to overcome a series of demented traps and save an old friend or face the deadly consequences.
Starring in the film are Tobin Bell (not so dead after all, eh Jigsaw?), Scott Patterson, Lyriq Bent, Athena Karkanis and Betsy Russell, the latter of which has an impressive display of nudity on her resume (see above). Should you care about all this, SAW IV is scheduled for release this October. Now go kick some ass on something else Bousman!
Extra Tidbit:
Russell has three nude scenes in the first 30 minutes of 1983's PRIVATE SCHOOL. Where have the good old days gone?...

WHY SAW 4?
Saw 3 was a good end to the Saw franchise... no need for another. But I guess they just had to milk it for more... |

*FART NOISES*
Replace Scott Patterson with Scott Peterson and i'll watch it, otherwise this movie will suck. But it would probably suck with Peterson too.
Torture films need to die or get better story lines. I like seeing people get a sick and twisted death as much as the next guy. I'm just not willing to sit through there tedious dialogue. |

I'm approaching this with trepidation. It could either be the one that ends the series on a spectacular high note (ala Return of the Jedi) or dooms it to an eternity of being mocked and ridiculed on internet messenger boards by schmoes and non-schmoes alike (ala Batman and Robin) |

LOVE SAW
if they keep making them, I'll keep seeing them. I love the series.
I'm starting to think that opinions should be kept out of the news. It's annoying. |

The first was mediocre at best. It didn't need one sequel, let alone a speculated 5 sequels. Won't it just go away? |

I used to be a SAW fan, but not so much anymore. I was done when SAW 2 hit the screens. This just really needs to die, like....now. |

THIS COULD BE THE ONE THAT KILLS THE FRANCHISE...
And I for one think that's a good thing. I enjoyed the Saw trilogy, warts and all, but not one word of this synopsis interests me at all. It screams of "coasting on the franchise name", and until I see a trailer to change my mind, I'll be quite content to skip this one. |
