Shutter Island trailer!

I’ve been waiting for some time to see what Martin Scorsese was cooking up for SHUTTER ISLAND. I read the book, the story of two detectives summoned to a mental hospital on an island to track down a missing inmate, a while back and found myself intrigued when thinking of how Scorsese would bring the somewhat popcorny suspense yarn to the screen. So far the cast is absolutely fantastic with Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley, Jackie Earle Haley, Max von Sydow, Patricia Clarkson and Michelle Williams. Ain’t a weak link among them.

Today the new trailer is online and wow, it looks MUCH better than I had anticipated. The book is…OK, but it’s not great (it’s like a book you’d read on an afternoon on the beach). It’s a tight story that’s somewhat undone by the last 1/3 of the story. But Scorsese looks to have taken out some of the dead wood in the novel and really ramped up the tension.
