X-MEN movie fans seem excited that director Bryan Singer is officially returning to the Marvel mutant franchise for the prequel FIRST CLASS. What's in store for the presumably Logan-less adventure?

As Singer tells Heat Vision: "I’ve written a pretty concise treatment. There’s a story that I really want to tell." The specifics of what he has planned are still top secret, but he does reveal that "it’s basically about the formation of the X-Men. How they began and the relationship between a young Xavier and a young Magneto."

So where does that leave the previously proposed X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO? It seems that Fox would rather have that story told by the guy who launched the X-movie series. "This story would probably utilize some of the Magneto story because it deals with a young Magneto," Singer says, "so it might supersede that because this would explore that relationship between a young energetic professor and a disenfranchised victim of the Holocaust."

Singer also describes the supposed studio skirmish about his X3 exit as "comical and exaggerated", and also says that JACK THE GIANT KILLER will likely be his next project -- possibly in 3D, as the filmmaker found AVATAR "inspiring."

Source: Heat Vision

Extra Tidbit: Singer initially turned down the first X-MEN and was convinced to do it by friend Tom DeSanto.

Being reintroduced again
I'm sick of being reintroduced to my favorite characters. Every time a bad sequel is made, people think its a good idea to just start from scratch. I think they should just do X4 and begin where the third left of. It's going to be pretty annoying if I have to see each character's power and background explained again. You can't really erase X3 so just move on a take these characters some pla...

I have no beef with Singer. He wanted Superman. I wouldn't turn that down either. The movie itself could of been better, but that's how it goes. Since he pretty much knows whats good with x-men. I feel confident with First Class. Besides this would be really good for Magneto's character which ever way you spin it.

First Class
I'm glad Singer is incorporating a somewhat origin story about Maneto in First Class and I hope FOX drops the idea of a full legnth Magneto film all together. I'm so excited to see what Singer cmes up with for First Class and they better let him tie this in with his previous two X-MEN films.

I like Singer but he left a bad taste after ditching X3, something he very easily could have seen all of the way through, in favor of "Superman Returns", which I did like, though, let's call it what it is, Singer derailed two franchises in one decision. Going back to Xmen seems like a cheap move at this point

I really don't feel any enthusiasm for this at all. I think Stewart and McKellern did such good jobs as Xavier and Magneto it'd be hard to find anyone to portray them as young men and keep it credible.

So true. I always thought what McKellen and Stewart brought to the franchise was at least as important as what Hugh Jackman brought. It's hard for an actor to keep his dignity wearing that stupid helmet but McKellen pulled that off with ease!

When I first heard about this months ago I thought it was a STUPID idea, but with Singer onboard maybe it won't suck.

I'm on board, but only if
I will be fine with this if he does it right and makes it have nothing to do with the other movies... Do the First Class right with the original five X-men and I will be happy.

Can't we just leave this alone? And while Singer has mostly good movies to his name, his faux pas was such a shit-kicker and was so dreadful, I kind of don't want him coming back to any superhero material.

I'm not thrilled at the idea of a prequel but I liked the first two films so much that I'm open to at least giving it a chance.

I don't know why people complain so much about Superman Returns. When he first said that he was going to continue from the Donner films everybody said "Good. We don't want to see another origin story. If it ain't broke don't fix it." I think people's expectations were a bit high after X2. Same thing happened with Raimi and Spiderman 3.

Singer is quite an underrated director and smart. I like his movie making style aside from Superman Returns.
