As many of you already know, Joe Carnahan's SMOKIN' ACES is pretty much the only movie that I'm looking forward to seeing this month. The film opens on January 26th and looks like a friggin' blast and a half. Friends who have seen it say that it's exactly what it appears to be and that's great to hear, since that's exactly what I'm looking for!! Joe has gotten even more creative for this movie as well, penning 6 comics himself, each illustrated by a different artist and each of which is making their online flash debut today.

The six comics each focus on a different character profile and tell us the characters' pre-story as a great introduction leading into the film. If you haven't seen this film's awesome trailers yet, click HERE. There will also be hard copies of the comics to come, but for now, JoBlo.com has received one of the six issues (featuring Pasqual Acosta), with the other 5 showing up at the following sites: Tremor Brothers at Chud.com, Lazlo Soot at Aicn.com, Buddy Israel as ComingSoon.net, Sykes & Waters at SmokinJoeCarnahan.com, Messner at Ugo.com.

It's to note that the comic books are R-rated, so if you click through to see the comic, you are acknowledging that you are over 18 years of age.

Looks like this is an emerging trend amongst new cult flicks. We had Southland Tales, and now Smokin' Aces. There's been a few for Kevin Smith's flicks as well. Oh well, as long as the stuff is quality, I dig it.
