Johnny Rico returns! Yep, Casper Van Dien is back for STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER, because space is not yet safe and there are more bugs to be messily destroyed (after all, we can ill afford another Klendathu). This time he's armed with new military innovations and the ludicrously prodigious lips of Jolene Blalock.

Their intergalactic battles will be going direct to video, and while it looks intermittently cheesy (which is acceptable on a fraction of the original's budget), MARAUDER at least seems to be aiming for the same spirit as Paul Verhoeven's subversive masterpiece of jingoism and mayhem.

Extra Tidbit: James Cameron supposedly required his actors to read Heinlein's STARSHIP TROOPERS novel before making ALIENS.

Check brain at the door...
...and have a good time in front of the TV. I skipped ST2, but this looks like they've captured the cheesy fun spirit of the original. I'm looking forward to this.

the first one came out on my 15th birthday, and i never bothered to see the second one. but while this one looks totally cheesy, it looks cheesy in the good way, and i'll totally check it out.

Definitely fits on Sci-Fi Channel's Saturday Night's showing. Well, Casper isn't doing anything else, so why not this? Neil Patrick should have came on too after doing his cameo on Harold/Kumar 2.

Cheesy blue screen effects , loads of bug action , groan inducing one liners , one dimensional characters , stilted acting , explosions aplenty , straight faced satiric bravado , Johhny Fekkin Rico's return , hot vacuous babes , a plethora of nods and winks to the original , and ( for it's budget ) great effects , what's not to love , i'm loving this shmoes , a proper ST sequel , and i'm ecstat...

This should be terrific , i'm preordered all over this bad boy .

Oh yes , forget about tongue and cheek with this one , this is tongue in throat all the way . They're no doubt taking a grindhouse film approach , they even seemed to use the voice of the guy from the Grindhouse film trailer for this preview .

This made my freakin day , can't wait for this .

ps - this looks like the Batman Forever of the ST franchise and that's not a bad thing lol .

I'm Glad
I'm happy to see another sequel - and one that attempts to return to the form of the original at that. I'm a huge fan of the original film. The second one is nowhere near on par with the first - but is a good little episode set in the same universe that is akin to the Roughnecks tv series in the 90's.

Wow...cheesy is not the word.
This movie upsets me. This is just another rendition for the sci-fi channel's audience and nothing more. It looks horrible.

I know this movie is gonna be terrible...hell, the trailer was terrible. But the first Starship Troopers movie is near and dear to my heart, and it's kind of cool seeing Johnny Rico back in action.

It didn't really give much of a plot so we can't tell how good it's gonna be, but I mean fuck it's got Casper Van Dien in it so I'll deff be checking it out!

Hehe the space scenes look awfully similar from the ones in the first one. Really low budget and useing the same ones? :)

Starship Troopers 1 is one of my guilty pleasure movies that I really like. The second movie was terrible and I don't really have high expectations for this one but I'll definitely be renting it.
