Add another film to the 3D pile, PRIEST.

The film is adapted from the manga series written and drawn by Min-Woo Hyung. The story is about a priest (Paul Bettany) who disobeys church law by teaming up with young sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and beautiful priestess (Maggie Q). The three must track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped the priest's niece and are planning to turn her.

We haven't really gotten a lot on this movie. There have been no new clips, posters, stills, or anything else promo-wise. Screen Gems announced that PRIEST will be released in 3D on January 14, 2011. President of Screen Gems, Clint Culpepper had this to say on the conversion, "We're thrilled with the way PRIEST has come together, and we saw some spectacular sequences in the film that we all believed would be even more amazing in 3D. Scott, as well as the produced, couldn't be more excited to make the film available for audiences in both 2D and 3D."

Sadly, I cannot make a judgment on whether or not I'd want to see this film in 3D since there's been no clippage or trailer. However, I have read & heard that the manga series is seriously badass.

This isn't like the Manga.
the Manga is very different from this. The Manga centers around fallen angels and demons and zombies and what not. This seems to be getting the standard "vampire hunter" movie treatment.

um, the story you gave us and the story that is in the link to the Manga page are literally NOTHING alike. i mean not at all. the Manga page is all, Devil contracts, dead priests, archangels, the phrase 'baptism in blood', etc.... the movie story gives us renegade Vampires and a little girl. but it does have Maggie Q, i love that girl.

i was a huge fan of the comic, and the story they just gave is absolutely nothing like the books. way to fuck up something else that was already written for ya hollywood. go fuck yourself

If I wanted to see a 3D attraction...
I'd go to Disney and see Muppets 3D. You do realize that Hollywood will probably start sacrificing good story and characters for 3D gimmicks! (oh wait...too late) Just stop buying over priced tickets. Nip this crap now!

I've read the 1st volume and i liked it. Other than bettany being skinny i guess he looks the part minus priest's long hair. i'll wait for a trailer. and the 3D part i could care less about it. I watch movies for the story, the directing and acting. I don't hate 3D just doesn't make the movie for me.

From now on I only see movies (in the theater) if it IS in 3D. Otherwise, Redbox (speaking of which, why is 9 still not stocked at Redbox?).

I think some studios don't allow Redbox to have their movies for the first month of their DVD release.

WTF is going on in Hollywood?!? Is there something in the water or is it pure greed that's motivating directors, actors, producers, etc?!? Now that Avatar was a huge hit in 3D, does every flick coming out of Hollywood have to be in 3D?

I was done with 3D and IMAX after Avatard. From now on I only see movies in 2D and at matinee prices.
