Crazy trailer for 3, 2, 1…Frankie Go Boom with Charlie Hunnam, Chris O’Dowd, and Ron Perlman arrives

The first full trailer for the oddball comedy 3, 2, 1…FRANKIE GO BOOM (formerly titled just FRANKIE GO BOOM) has arrived and is pretty much what I anticipated when I first heard about the film.  And that’s a good thing.  Written and directed by Jordan Roberts (AROUND THE BEND) the pic stars PACIFIC RIM headliner Charlie Hunnam and BRIDESMAIDS Chris O’Dowd, with a supporting cast that includes the lovely Lizzy Caplan, Chris Noth, Nora Dunn, Whitney Cummings, and Ron Perlman as a transvestite.

The film seems to have all the ingredients for a wild, crazy, and crude comedy.  There’s a lot of weird shit going on here and I love it.  This is the antithesis of yesterday’s comedy trailer for Gerard Butler’s PLAYING FOR KEEPS, which is a limp noodle in comparison.

The pig is in the pool!:

This looks great to me.  It certainly has the potential to sink fast if it isn’t firing on all cylinders, but that goes for any movie.  With such a kick ass cast and a wacky story it feels like it would be pretty hard to screw this one up.  Plus, the last scene with Hunnam kissing Perlman’s hand is just insane when you look at their dynamic on the FX show Sons of Anarchy.  Their interactions in this film will be inadvertently awesome due to their relationship on the show, which is exceptionally different (and one of my all-time favorite shows).

Here’s the synopsis:

3, 2, 1 … FRANKIE GO BOOM follows Frank Bartlett (Charlie Hunnam) who has been tortured embarrassed and humiliated by his brother Bruce (Chris O’Dowd) – usually on film  – for his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not. 3, 2, 1 … FRANKIE GO BOOM is a comedy about two brothers a girl with a broken heart, a sex tape, an angel and a pig.

3, 2, 1…FRANKIE GO BOOM will be released on iTunes on September 10, 2012 with a limited theatrical run starting on October 12, 2012.
