Check out the trailer for The Beatles 50th Anniversary of A Hard Day’s Night

Looking for an interesting way to celebrate America’s birth this summer? Why not watch four lads from Liverpool in their first feature length film! That’s right; it’s a re-release of A HARD DAY’S NIGHT starring The Beatles, it returns to theaters for its 50th anniversary this July 4th.

Here’s the synopsis:

Meet the Beatles! Just one month after they exploded onto the U.S. scene with their Ed Sullivan Show appearance, John, Paul, George, and Ringo began working on a project that would bring their revolutionary talent to the big screen. A Hard Day’s Night, in which the bandmates play slapstick versions of themselves, captured the astonishing moment when they officially became the singular, irreverent idols of their generation and changed music forever. Directed with raucous, anything-goes verve by Richard Lester and featuring a slew of iconic pop anthems, including the title track, “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “I Should Have Known Better,” and “If I Fell,” A Hard Day’s Night, which reconceived the movie musical and exerted an incalculable influence on the music video, is one of the most deliriously entertaining movies of all time.

The plot is nearly non-existent, it’s campy as hell but that’s just fine. If you’re going to watch it, it will be for the timeless music and crazy antics of these talented youngsters. For its time, this movie was a fantastic comedy, full of wit and charm. I highly recommend it as it still holds up well today. Also, did I just say youngsters?

Check out the trailer below and tell us your greatest Beatles memory.

A HARD DAY’S NIGHT opens July 4th 2014, and stars John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. There is also a Criterion Collection Blu-ray planned, which will be released on June 24th 2014.
