Gojira!

The first trailer for Gareth Edward's GODZILLA has arrived and it's a hell of a teaser. Featuring a hell of a HALO jump into a monster-ravaged city and a bunch of snippets from the film, there's more than enough here to get you exctied without revealing the whole enchilada. It's a little more (and a little less) that the SDCC trailer shown this past summer, but no less a wonderful appetizer for the mayhem that awaits.

Jump in!:

Here's the synopsis:

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

I'm actually surprised at how excited I am for this. After two Comic Cons worth of teasing, this sucker is about ready to smash into theaters and it just feels like they got it right (finally!). We've had 15 years to put Roland Emmerich's disaster of a monster disaster flick behind us and the time is right for the famous Kaiju to finally get his cinematic due. I know I speak for a lot of fans when I say that the anticipation is high, almost as much as the anxiety over another botch job. Fortunately, this looks like anything but.

GODZILLA, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, and David Strathairn, stomps into theaters on May 16, 2014.
