Space marines hunt for an alien bio-weapon in Crossbreed trailer

In the near future, Vivica A. Fox is President Ellen Henricksen, who hires a group of retired military war heroes who are sent to retrieve an extraterrestrial being from an illegal medical facility using its DNA to manufacture weapons. You know, typical shady space shenanigans and so forth.

CROSSBREED is being directed by Brandon Slagle, who also co-wrote the script with Robert Thompson. The feature is meant to serve as a throwback to science fiction action films of the '80s. In addition to Fox, Daniel Baldwin, GOTHAM's Stink Fisher, Devanny Pinn, Vernon Wells and John T. Woods will also appear.

“When my producers brought up the idea of Vivica in the role, it was a lightning bolt," Slagle told The Hollywood Reporter back in September of 2016. "It was a fantastic idea. Someone who could light up a room but also has a commanding presence. Our President is positive and proactive, not the grim figure as is usually portrayed in these types of movies."

Where's Elvira, Mistress of the Dark when you need her? This movie looks like the sort of feature that she'd love to host during one of her iconic Movie Macabre installments. For all of the trailer's visual splendor, I do think the design for the alien creature is rather cool. It sort of reminds me of the Spider Queen from DOCTOR WHO. Perhaps they're related? Cousins maybe? Sound off in the comments section below and let us know what you think of the trailer for CROSSBREED.

CROSSBREED is set for a 2018 release.
