We’re going back to Narnia for The Silver Chair

aslan, the chronicles of narnia, narnia

Looks like someone is taking another crack at bringing us back to Narnia.

Sony's TriStar Pictures, is teaming up with The Mark Gordon Company, eOne and The C.S. Lewis Company to resuscitate THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series, picking the story back up with THE SILVER CHAIR. David Magee, who penned the screenplays for THE LIFE OF PI and FINDING NEVERLAND, is writing the script.

This is the second time a studio has made an attempt to carry the torch for the NARNIA stories after Disney opted out after making two films – THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE and PRINCE CASPIAN. 20th Century Fox attempted to revitalize the dragging property, but THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER didn't turn out the business they had hoped for back in 2010, and C.S. Lewis' tales have been sitting on the shelf ever since.

The NARNIA films felt as if they were continuing on a downward trend, with each film failing to live up to the one which came before it – hardly the trajectory a series shold be on. But, if this new partnership has the confidence (and, more importantly, the money) to think they can turn that frown upside-down and make THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA bankable again, then good luck to them. They're really going to need it.
