UPDATE: I guess the rumors have come to fruition. The Wrap is reporting that Tim Burton is currently in talks to direct the sequel according to their sources. They also state that Michael Keaton is expected to return as “the ghost with the most”. Everyone can now rejoice!

Attention K-Mart shoppers!

We have another hefty rumor from the guys over at Schmoes Know. This one involves the long awaited sequel to BEETLEJUICE. No, it’s not BEETLEJUICE GOES TO HAWAII or HAWAIIAN VACATION or whatever. That would have ruined everything.

Okay, so the source close to Schmoes Know happens to be a “high ranking studio executive” originally told the site that Tim Burton was thinking of dropping out of the adaptation of MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN in order to take on BEETLEJUICE 2. Burton has since realized that MISS PEREGRINE is one that he doesn’t want to let go of just yet, so he’s shifting his schedule to try to take on both films. A year ago, Burton apparently gave his blessing on the project and became involved in a limited capacity.

Seth Grahame-Smith is still on as scribe as far as we can tell so all they need to do is take it to Michael Keaton and get him on board. If this is all true then all the elements are slowly coming together. All we know about the story is that it will be a continuation 27 years later.

The thought of Burton and Keaton coming back together makes me so happy inside. It’s showtime!
