The Green Inferno, Eli Roth’s cannibal epic, will finally be released

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It's been a while since we last heard from Eli Roth regarding his cannibalistic epic THE GREEN INFERNO; the film was originally set to be released last fall but original distributor Open Road Films had to pull the film from its schedule due to issues with the financier, Worldview Entertainment. Those who were anxiously awaiting THE GREEN INFERNO will be pleased to know that Blumhouse Productions has come to the rescue and will release the film theatrically on September 25, 2015.

Eli Roth announced the good news himself through his Facebook page:

BREAKING: The Green Inferno IS COMING SEPTEMBER 25TH! Saved by Blumhouse Productions, COMMENT AND SHARE with your excitement! Thank you everyone for your unending support, it helped save this movie!!

I'm not overly fond of Eli Roth's previous films (although I don't dislike them either) but I was actually quite looking forward to THE GREEN INFERNO and was disappointed when its release seemed up in the air. Thankfully it's now time for THE GREEN INFERNO to unleash its (hopefully) gory magnificence upon us.

The film follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone… and that no good deed goes unpunished.

THE GREEN INFERNO will chomp its way into theaters on September 25, 2015, but if you're looking to check out a review of the film right now, Chris Bumbray reviewed the film back when it was screened at TIFF 2013 and you can check that out right here.
