Tracy Morgan to join Taraji P. Henson in What Men Want

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After a fluke accident left chauvinist advertising executive Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson) with the ability to hear what women are really thinking, he uses it to his advantage when a woman (Helen Hunt) got a promotion over him, but, romantic/comedy drum-roll, he later winds up falling in love with her instead. Nancy Meyers' WHAT WOMEN WANT was a huge hit back in 2000, and an updated version is in the works which will star Taraji P. Henson.

Said to be "inspired" by the original film, WHAT MEN WANT will find Taraji P. Henson (HIDDEN FIGURES) starring as a sports agent who has been constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. Upon gaining the power to hear the thoughts of the men around her, she's able to shift the paradigm to her advantage as she races to sign the NBA's next superstar. According to The Tracking Board, Tracy Morgan (FIST FIGHT) has just closed a deal to star alongside Henson as the NBA star's father, who, surprise, surprise, is "brash and loud." THR has added that Aldis Hodge (HIDDEN FIGURES) will also appear in the film which is to be directed by Adam Shankman (THE WEDDING PLANNER). Paramount Players, a new production division of Paramount Pictures which was launched earlier this year and will embrace "the studio’s history and DNA through its name, but will focus, in distinctive ways, on contemporary talent and properties for young audiences while drawing upon the vast resources of the Viacom brands," has already slated WHAT MEN WANT for a January 11, 2019 release.

Tracy Morgan will next be seen in The Last O.G., a new TBS series which finds Morgan starring as Tray, a man released after a 15-year stint in prison due to good behavior who returns home and is shocked to discover just how much his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood has changed. The Last O.G. also stars Tiffany Haddish and Cedric the Entertainer and will debut on April 3rd.
