Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me trailer raps its way online

Hip Hop has been a part of my life ever since the 1991 release of A Tribe Called Quest's timeless musical masterpiece The Low End Theory. That album woke me up to a whole other level of rhyme, rhythm, and soul that exists in some of the best rap music that history has offer. Nowadays, I enjoy the rap stylings of Jurassic 5, Aesop Rock, Kendrick Lamar and more. I regret to say that I never took much time to familiarize myself with the incomparable Tupac Shakur. Growing up, the majority of my friends preferred to blast The Notorious B.I.G. until my ears bled, leaving little room for Shakur's raw, aggressive, and lasting effect on the industry.

Today, a trailer for Lionsgate's Tupac Shakur biopic ALL EYEZ ON ME has been released, giving fans of the East Harlem-born rapper another way to honor and celebrate the man's career and memory.

For those of you who would like a brief synopsis of the biopic, ALL EYEZ ON ME tells the true and untold story of prolific rapper, actor, poet and activist Tupac Shakur. The film follows Shakur from his early days in New York City to his evolution into being one of the world’s most recognized and influential voices before his untimely death at the age of 25. Against all odds, Shakur’s raw talent, powerful lyrics and revolutionary mind-set propelled him into becoming a cultural icon whose legacy continues to grow long after his passing.

Directed by Benny Boom with a script written by Jeremy Haft & Eddie Gonzalez and Steven Bagatourian, ALL EYEZ ON ME stars Kat Graham, Lauren Cohan, Hill Harper, Jamal Woolard and Danai Gurira. The film was of course named after Shakur's 1996 smash-LP, and will be a featured part of the American Black Film Festival two days after Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment opens the film from Morgan Creek on June 16, 2017.

Tupac Shakur died far too young at the age of 25.
