Deadline is reporting Julia Roberts has been cast as the female lead in Billy Ray's crime thriller THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES. Roberts will star alongside in Chiwetel Ejiofor and Gwyneth Paltrow in the remake of Juan Jose Campanella's Oscar winning Argentine movie.
Ray's film will follow an ex-MI-5 agent (Ejiofor) who hasn't gotten over the death of his friend and former partner's (Roberts) daughter, and years later believes he's figured out who committed the crime. Production on THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES will start next month in L.A.
I've never been the biggest Julia Roberts fan, but I've enjoyed Billy Ray's previous directorial efforts (SHATTERED GLASS, BREACH) and I'm interested in seeing what he does with THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES.
