Willem Dafoe turned in one of his best performances ever with THE FLORIDA PROJECT last year, and now he’s back with what will surely be another acclaimed, possibly awards-garnering performance in AT ETERNITY’S GATE. Dafoe plays iconic impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in the new movie from Julian Schnabel (THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY), which focuses on the artist’s struggle with his unsuccessful painting career and mental instability. The premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it was met with solid reviews, with Dafoe receiving acclaim for his work as the troubled painter. Schnabel also earned positive marks for his interpretation of the artist’s final years, shooting all on location in Europe where he lived during that period. The movie will close the New York Film Festival and be released by CBS Films on November 16.
