Riddick’s Katee Sackhoff hints at possible Marvel movie involvement

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Actress Katee Sackhoff has been very vocal about her fangirl status and after a successful turn as Starbuck in Battlestar Galactica, voice work in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Robot Chicken, Superhero Squad, and even a turn on 24, it appears that she’s been pretty consistent. Currently starring in RIDDICK, Sackhoff was on The Schmoes Know Podcast and cryptically revealed that she may or may not have met with Marvel/Disney for talks about a spot in a future Marvel film, saying, “there’s been some stuff going on” and “a lot of checking of availability for the first quarter of next year.”

Now, we could easily toss out a “big whup” to that, but even Kevin Feige has been dishing on the prospects of another female Marvel superhero gracing the big screen.

“There’s obviously a drumbeat that is banging louder and louder that we want a female lead superhero. We have strong female characters in our films from Black Widow to Pepper Potts to Peggy Carter and you never know. Maybe there’s an offshoot film with one of them. Or Captain Marvel, you know?”

Hmm. Captain Marvel indeed. Sackhoff seems like the perfect fit for Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel. Almost too perfect really. Certainly she could fit just about any Marvel female as she’s got the looks and the physicality to fill that role. In all honesty, it would be silly to think that Marvel wouldn’t even be considering her for something. Feige paints a not-so-bright look at a solo female film in the near future, but the possibility is still there.

“It’s hard because we have a small group at Marvel. We do two films a year. To get those two films done and to do them right takes a lot of work and manpower. And female-power, obviously. To add a third film and to just put it in the slate right now is difficult. We have these next three, four, five films coming out and that’s what we’re really concentrating on.”

What do you think? Is Sackhoff a shoe-in for a Marvel film or is she too obvious of a choice?
