Dave Bautista unsure about his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 return

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Over the weekend, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star Dave Bautista delivered some real talk about his wavering desire to portray his fan-favorite character, Drax, for the "on-hold" Marvel sequel, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3. As you may already know, Bautista has been very vocal as of late with regard to Disney's firing of James Gunn as director of the third film in the Guardians franchise. When asked to talk about his position on the matter while appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show, Bautista explained that, “It’s a bitter-sweet conversation — um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn.”

“They’re putting the movie off,” Bautista added. “It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”

After Ross' panel of guests stirred in their seats, Bautista proclaimed, “I’m not afraid to admit the way I feel.”

To which Ross replied, “That’s quite unusual in Hollywood.”

“I don’t think I’m your typical Hollywood guy,” Bautista then clarified.

To see the entire enchange, including Kevin Hart's bold attempt to change the subject, you can watch the video posted below:

It would seem that as Disney gets further away from the production of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3, so does Dave Bautista. For the moment, pre-production on the sequel has been shut down due to Gunn's dismissal, among other complications. As the story continues to develop, one has to wonder how the stalling of Vol. 3 will affect the Marvel timeline going forward, not to mention the outcome of the already-filmed follow-up to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Will Drax be taken off the board as a result of Thanos' actions? Will there even be a GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3, or will the space-faring heroes simply be absorbed into other projects? A Thor/Guardians crossover perhaps? Let us know what you think will happen in the comments section below.
