Luke Wilson joins Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan in A Many Splintered Thing; production starts Saturday

Michelle Monaghan and Aubrey Plaza

I’ve had a soft spot for Luke Wilson ever since LEGALLY BLONDE. Something about his earnestness and charm wiggled its way into my heart back in the early years of the last decade, and somehow it has never quite left in the time since.  Hence why I’m actually looking forward to the fact that he has decided to join A MANY SPLINTERED THING.

Once described by star Chris Evans as an “anti rom-com,” the movie also boasts the talents of Michelle Monaghan, Aubrey Plaza, Anthony Mackie, Topher Grace, and Giovanni Ribisi and looks to tell the tale of “a young man disillusioned by love who meets a breathtaking young woman at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Turns out that she’s engaged. Challenged by the chase, and egged on by his friends, he feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart.”  Now while that may not sound like the most revolutionary of plots to you, also consider how Chris Evans is hardly at a point in his career where he needs flicks like this.  If he took the role, I’m deciding to believe its because he genuinely sees something special to be had here.  Not to mention the fact that Evans is also Executive Producing, meaning he has even more control over the quality of the movie.

Hopefully Evans is right – production is planned to start on Saturday, meaning that it won’t be long at all before we start hearing more about A MANY SPLINTERED THING.

Justin Reardon

This is director Justin Reardon – amongst other things, he created the Budweiser “Wassup!” advertising campaign.  A MANY SPLINTERED THING is set to be his first full-length feature film.
