Update: Kevin Smith took to Rock 102 Mornings with Shmonty & Carolina earlier today to actually CONFIRM that MALLRATS 2 is on the docket. You can check out the whole interview here, but in his own words, he states, "Yeah, that's what we're working on. It's half a script right now and we're pulling our loot together. By the time we get to May 2016 we're gonna be shooting." And there ya have it! Like it or not, it's definitely on his plate, although no word on story or casting yet. You can read the original article on the matter below.

While writer/director Kevin Smith's passion for making movies seemed to be dwindling a few years ago, TUSK renewed that passion and now the man is busier than ever. His follow-up to the True North Trilogy, YOGA HOSERS, is already in the can but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Within the next year, there's no less than 3 projects he's working on including a possible sequel further down the road. Take in what he's announced on his personal Facebook page below.

Kevin Smith on upcoming film projects:

Saw some websites are reporting CLERKS III will be my last flick. I did say this at one point, but Tusk changed all that. Now, the next 2 years are booked. We shoot CLERKS III in May. The HIT SOMEBODY hockey miniseries finally follows in the fall, shooting September to Christmas 2015. Then in Feb/March 2016, we tackle MOOSE JAWS and ANTI-CLAUS. And after that? I smell a rat…

CLERKS III and MOOSE JAWS are no surprise, and we've been waiting quite a while for HIT SOMEBODY to arrive in some form or fashion, but the final comment intrigues. One can't help but conjure up images of a MALLRATS 2. MALLRATS was hardly a critical or financial success, but over the years it has become a cult classic of sorts. If this means that Smith will be writing material for Jason Lee to say, then I'm totally down. Lee delivers Smith dialogue like no other!

Kevin Smith's next film, YOGA HOSERS, will see a release on June 1, 2015.
