Mel Gibson and Colin Farrell to star in Tommy Wirkola-directed War Pigs film

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Mel Gibson and Colin Farrell had better start practicing their "war faces," because Millennium Films has just announced via Deadline that both stars have been cast to lead an action war epic titled WAR PIGS. Helming the upcoming feature is DEAD SNOW and HANSEL & GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS director Tommy Wirkola, who will shoot from a script penned by Nick Ball and John Niven. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian are producing via di Bonaventura Productions, alongside Matt Berenson.

In the film, a group of disillusioned ex-marines go on one last mission to get revenge on the cartel that murdered one of their own while making off with millions of dollars in drug money. When the movie tactfully barges into theaters, Farell will play Drex, while Gibson is set to star as The Pastor.

With production expected to begin this October, it's being said that Gibson will participate ahead of directing the WWII action film DESTROYER with Mark Wahlberg in-line to star. In recent times, Farrell wrapped his role in the Steve McQueen-directed crime drama WINDOWS starring Viola Davis, Elizabeth Debicki, Jon Bernthal, Liam Neeson, Michelle Rodriguez, among others. You can also catch Farell as Holt Farrier in Tim Burton's live-action adaptation of Disney's DUMBO in March of next year.
