Final trailer for Game of Thrones Season 4 and second trailer for FX’s Fargo

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I have a couple of television trailers for you this morning. One is being described as the final trailer for the upcoming fourth season of HBO's Game of Thrones, and the other is a second look at FX's new Fargo series based on the classic Coen Brothers movie.

We'll start with the new Game of Thrones trailer, which might seem like torture for those of you that have been anxiously waiting for new episodes of HBO's hit show. There have been a few trailers released for the new season now, and this latest one comes from the official Game of Thrones Facebook page. I'm sure most of you have the date circled on your calendar already, but the fourth season of Game of Thrones will start airing on April 6th, 2014.

"They can live in my new world, or they can die in their old one."

Season 4 synopsis (Warning: contains spoilers from the previous seasons):

"Encouraged by the Red Wedding slaughter in the Riverlands that wiped out many of their Stark nemeses, the Lannisters’ hold on the Iron Throne remains intact… but can they survive their own egos, as well as new and ongoing threats from the south, north and east? While an unbowed Stannis Baratheon continues to rebuild his army in Dragonstone, a more immediate danger comes from the south, as Oberyn Martell, the Lannister-loathing “Red Viper of Dorne,” arrives at King’s Landing to attend Joffrey’s wedding to Margaery Tyrell, and perhaps act on an ulterior agenda. In the north, a depleted Night’s Watch seems overmatched against the inexorable Wall advances of Mance Rayder’s army of wildlings, which in turn is being trailed by an even more formidable foe: the undead White Walkers. As if that weren’t enough, Daenerys Targaryen, accompanied by her menacing trio of dragons and army of Unsullied, is poised to liberate Meereen, the largest city in Slaver’s Bay, which could ultimately provide her with enough ships to sail to Westeros and reclaim the Iron Throne."

Next up is the second trailer for FX's Fargo. While the first trailer was pretty much just a teaser with Billy Bob Thornton scrapping snow off of his car, this second trailer features most of the main actors appearing in Fargo, including Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, Colin Hanks and Adam Goldberg. I wasn't too happy to hear about Fargo when it was first announced, however I've enjoyed what I've seen so far for the new limited series, and it stars a bunch of awesome actors. Will it be as good as the original movie? Probably not, but I'm still very interested in checking out Fargo.

"I didn't do nothing! I just got home!"

Fargo synopsis:

An original adaptation of the Academy Award®-winning feature film, Fargo features an all-new “true crime” story and follows a new case and new characters, all entrenched in the trademark humor, murder and “Minnesota nice” that made the film an enduring classic. Oscar® winner Billy Bob Thornton stars as “Lorne Malvo,” a rootless, manipulative man who meets and forever changes the life of small town insurance salesman “Lester Nygaard,” played by BAFTA Award® winner and Emmy®-nominated Martin Freeman. Colin Hanks plays Duluth Police Deputy “Gus Grimly,” a single dad who must choose between his own personal safety and his duty as a policeman when he comes face-to-face with a killer. Allison Tolman also stars as “Molly Solverson,” an ambitious Bemidji deputy.

Rounding out Fargo’s colorful cast of recurring characters will be Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk as “Deputy Bill Oswalt,” Golden Globe™ and Emmy-nominated Oliver Platt as “Stavros Milos,” Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Kate Walsh as “Gina Hess,” Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) as “Don Chumph,” Joey King as “Greta Grimly,” Peter Breitmayer as “Lieutenant Schmidt,” Tom Musgrave as “Bo Munk,” Josh Close as “Chazz Nygaard,” Russell Harvard as “Mr. Wrench” and Adam Goldberg as “Mr. Numbers.”

Fargo is scheduled to premiere on FX on April 15th, 2014.
