Key & Peele’s Substitute Teacher sketch will get the feature-film treatment

For those of you caught up on your sketch comedy, you're probably familiar with the oftentimes brilliant Key & Peele that airs on Comedy Central. The show stars (you guessed it) Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as they run the gamut of colorful characters throughout several pre-taped sketches. One of the more popular ones as of late is that of a hardened, inner-city substitute teacher who comes to work in a middle-class school. Boasting over 72 million views on YouTube, Paramount Pictures has decided to give the sketch a film treatment.

Key will play the role substitute teacher Mr. Garvey, while his partner in crime, Jordan Peele, will portray a rival teacher determined to be the students’ favorite. The script will be penned by Rich Talarico and Alex Rubens, who serve as writers and producers on Key & Peele. This is great news for fans of the show, as these two have been pumping out great skits consistently. Hopefully they'll find ways to keep the character from being one-note, as we're due for some fresh comic blood on the silver screen.
