Jack the Giant Killer becomes Jack the Giant Slayer and grabs a new release date

Jack the Giant Slayer movie still 1

JACK THE GIANT KILLER.  Remember that movie? Directed by Bryan Singer? Starring Nicholas Hoult (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, A SINGLE MAN), Ian McShane, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Eddie Marsan, and Bill Nighy as the main giant? Repeatedly delayed? Already has a trailer (see below) and everything?

Well it’s still coming, only now the title and release date have slightly changed.  JACK THE GIANT KILLER has now, for reasons unknown, changed its name to JACK THE GIANT SLAYER.  Maybe “slay” has more of a fantasy conotation? Maybe some strange sort of political correct concerns are at play? Maybe they’re hoping to re-start the marketing drive after months of the movie languishing in the Bog of Forgotten But Still Eventually Releasing movies?

Also for reasons unknown, the release date has once again been shifted (though much less drastically this time ’round) – instead of arriving on March 22nd, 2013, JACK THE GIANT SLAYER will now be found in cinemas on March 1st, 2013.  You can catch it in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats.

Plot recap: JACK THE GIANT SLAYER “tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack, into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend—and gets the chance to become a legend himself.”
