Tom Cruise aims for a heist on the moon before Mission: Impossible 6

Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman worked together on the critically successful EDGE OF TOMORROW, and while that film didn't exactly make the box-office dollars it deserved, that hasn't stopped the two of them from collaborating again. The 1980s drug-running flick, MENA, is scheduled for an early 2017 release and now word is that two are aiming to shoot the moon heist film LUNA PARK before Cruise takes up a 6th MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE flick.

Cruise is currently filming JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK with Edward Zwick, but in the interim, writer Jason Fuchs (WONDER WOMAN, PAN) has been tapped to pen the script for LUNA PARK in hopes that shooting can begin in early 2016.

LUNA PARK is described as a heist film, where a group of renegade employees venture to the moon to steal an energy source. Given Liman's handle on Sci-Fi goodness in EDGE OF TOMORROW, I'm sure can whip together a entertaining flick out of this. It's been in development hell for years now, but if any actor can help get the project off the ground, it'd be the running man himself, Tom Cruise. While we're at it, I'm curious to know what Tom's idea for EDGE OF TOMORROW 2 is! Not saying we need one, but I wouldn't be opposed to it!

Tom Cruise and Doug Liman's next picture, MENA, will open in theaters on January 6, 2017.
