Watch every genre trope come alive in trailer for horror flick Jessabelle

Yesterday we saw the trailer for a new horror flick called AS ABOVE, SO BELOW and today we have a look at yet another new genre pic called JESSABELLE. Starring Sarah Snook, Mark Webber, David Andrews, and Joelle Carter, JESSEBELLE is jam-packed with every horror trick in the book, making it a kind of roll-up of tropes, including the mirror scare, shadow scare, bathtub scare, death of a loved one scare (times two!), wheelchair scare, loud noises scare, and even the videotape scare. I'm sure I'm missing a few, but those are off the top of my head.

Spot the trope!:

Here's the synopsis:

From the mastermind producer of Paranormal Activity and Insidious comes the ghostly tale of Jessabelle. Returning to her childhood home in Louisiana to recuperate from a horrific car accident, Jessabelle (Sarah Snook of Sleeping Beauty) comes face to face with a long-tormented spirit that has been seeking her return — and has no intention of letting her escape.

Now, I'm not picking on JESSABELLE, just nothing what immediately popped into my head while watching the trailer. It looks nicely shot and will probably fill that late summer horror fix for fans of the genre. It's just humorous to spot so many familiar tactics all in one trailer. Don't get me wrong, if any of those scares happened to me in real life I'd definitely jump. Then again, I don't live in the woods, don't bathe in creepy tubs in the dark, and don't have a VHS player anymore.

JESSABELLE haunts theaters on August 29, 2014.
