Universal snags Sci-Fi thriller Extinction with Michael Pena set to star

It's been announced today that ANT-MAN co-star and all around charming individual, Michael Pena, has been cast in the Ben Young directed alien invasion Sci-Fi Thriller EXTINCTION for Universal. In the film, Pena will portray a man suffering from persistent nightmares of losing his family. Then, when the planet is invaded by a formidable alien force, Pena's character will find that he's left with no choice but to confront his fears and fight for his family's survival.

The film features a screenplay written by Eric Heisserer (ARRIVAL) and Bradley Caleb Kane, and is aiming to start pointing its cameras as early as April of this year. Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman of Mandeville are set to produce, while Mandeville's Alexander Young will executively produce, in cooperation with Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe. EXTINCTION marks Universal's second get from Good Universe in recent times, after acquiring THE PACT, which is slated for an April 2018 release.
