Jason Statham vs. shark movie Meg gets its release date pushed back

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

SHARKNADO has kind of ruined sharks for me. While I still love JAWS, and even have some nostalgia for DEEP BLUE SEA, I feel sharks are a bit overplayed at this point. But that hasn't stopped Hollywood from beating a concept to the ground before (read: zombie), so a new movie MEG – about a giant, prehistoric shark terrorizing people – is coming out soon.

But not as soon as everyone anticipated! The shark movie, starring Jason Statham, was supposed to be released March 2nd, 2018, but has been pushed back five months for undisclosed reasons to August 10th, 2018. The film also stars Ruby Rose and Rainn Wilson, and will be helmed by 3 NINJAS director Jon Turteltaub.

Like I said, I'm kind of burnt out on sharks, but I can't deny that I'm excited about seeing Jason Statham fight one. And apparently in the novel the film is based on, Jason Statham's character rips a hole in the side of the shark, swims in its innards, and crushes the shark's heart to death. Dude, that's metal-as-fuck. I'd be down to see that in IMAX.

But what about you Schmoes? You guys excited for a Jason Statham vs. shark match-up? Either way, sound off below!
