Liam Neeson stars as Mark Felt in non-porno “Deep Throat” biopic Silent Man

Whatever your political affiliations, you've definitely seen the words "Watergate" pop up in your news feeds recently. And that's because Watergate was the first true scandal of that scale to be perpetrated by a sitting President in the modern era, and why every bad thing a president does now is some sort of "-gate". However, the fact is, it wasn't easy to prove that the leader of the free world – and the most powerful man in the world – was guilty of a crime. It took determination, skill, and – in some cases – sacrifice.

See, while Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein are (rightfully) attributed to helping bring down Nixon, they weren't alone. They needed a source. And one of their main sources was one Mark Felt (a.k.a. "Deep Throat", named so after the popular porn film that came out around that time). However, no one knew who Deep Throat was for decades, until Felt outed himself out in 2005 (though many suspected it was probably him).

Now Liam Neeson stars as Felt with an all-star cast (which includes Diane Lane, Michael C. Hall, Josh Lucas, and Bruce Greenword) in the new biopic SILENT MAN. Here's a clip from the film:

And here's the official synopsis:

The Silent Man centers on “Deep Throat,” the pseudonym given to the notorious whistleblower for one of the greatest scandals of all time, Watergate. The true identity of the secret informant remained a mystery and source of much public curiosity and speculation for more than 30 years. That is until, in 2005, special agent Mark Felt shockingly revealed himself as the tipster. This unbelievable true story chronicles the personal and professional life of the brilliant and uncompromising Felt, who risked and ultimately sacrificed everything – his family, his career, his freedom – in the name of justice.

Meanwhile, SILENT MAN will hit theaters this September from Sony Picture Classics.
