Nicolas Winding Refn directed these Matthew McConaughey ads for Lincoln cars

If I were to tell you Nicolas Winding Refn had directed Matthew McConaughey, you likely would be excited to check out the results as soon as possible. After his amazing turn in TRUE DETECTIVE and upcoming return to big budget stardom in Christopher Nolan‘s INTERSTELLAR, McConaughey is riding high off of his Oscar win for DALLAS BUYERS CLUB. Alas, Refn did not direct a film or ever a television show with McConaughey but rather a series of adds for Lincoln’s MKC.

Yeah, these are car commercials, but they are also really well done car commercials. Refn directs them with a series of different lighting and moods all while McConaughey sounds like Rust Cohle as he discusses whether a bull in the road is the Egyptian god Osiris amongst other philosophical gems.

Refn is a damn fine director and I am glad Matthew McConaughey is getting the credit and roles he truly deserves. Check out the first ads from the Lincoln campaign below.
