Dumbo takes flight in first trailer for Disney’s latest live-action remake

Disney has been cranking out their live-action remakes of animated movies like no one’s business, and soon we’ll see one of their most iconic stories come to the screen in DUMBO. The first trailer is here for the film by iconic director Tim Burton with stars like Danny DeVito, Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Eva Green and more. As to be expected from a live-action movie about an elephant with giant ears, be prepared to say “awww” a lot.

Holt, a former circus star, finds his life turned upside-down when he returns from the War. Circus owner Max Medici enlists him to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughing stock in an already struggling circus. But when Holt's children, Milly and Joe, discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V. A. Vandemere and aerial artist Colette Marchant swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

Anyone who's seen the Burton movie BIG FISH probably saw something very familiar in this trailer. The circus setting gives off a magical aura thanks to some stellar production design and costumes, which should be expected in a Burton movie. The music fits perfectly to create a whimsical, curious tone and overall the movie looks very sweet and visually dazzling. Next year we will get several of these movies, including THE LION KING and ALADDIN, so DUMBO will kick off a big year for Disney live-action remakes.

DUMBO arrives March 29, 2019.
