No one even knew M. Night Shyamalan was filming a new film called SUNDOWNING until he tweeted about it earlier this month, but The Wrap has managed to dig up a few new tidbits of information about the mysterious film.
According to the site, Shyamalan's new movie stars Kathryn Hahn (BAD WORDS, THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY) as a single mother with two children, who has a visit with their grandparents that doesn't go very well. Child actor Ed Oxenbould (ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY) will play her son, who is apparently very protective of his sister.
There still aren't many plot details about SUNDOWNING, but "sundowning" is used to describe a psychological phenomenon some patients with forms of dementia experience when the sun sets. Symptoms include increased general confusion, agitation, mood swings and tremors. I'm guessing at least one of the grandparents is experiencing sundowning in the new movie, but how will it be used in M. Nigh Shyamalan's new movie?
SUNDOWNING could be an interesting movie, but I wonder if too many movie buffs have been burned by M. Night Shyamalan to give it a chance. I'm not saying it's going to be fantastic, but I'm at least a little interested in SUNDOWNING, which is more than I can say about AFTER EARTH.
SUNDOWNING currently doesn't have a release date, but it will probably be in theaters sometime this year.
