Deadpool to get an animated series courtesy of Donald Glover and FXX

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Sharpen your swords and bust out your favorite chimichanga recipe, folks, because Deadpool is getting his own animated series! That's right, the Merc with a Mouth will be getting his own show courtesy of hardcore-comic-fan and multi-talented star Donald Glover and Stephen Glover! The untitled show has been given a straight-to-series order by FXX, with a 10-episode first season expected to debut in 2018.

In what we've learned so far, ATLANTA creator and Golden Globe winner Donald Glover and his brother, ATLANTA staff writer Stephen Glover, will act as showrunners, executive producers and writers of the series. Marvel’s Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are executive producers. The untitled series is produced by Marvel Television in association with FX Productions and ABC Signature Studios for FXX.

In speaking about the project, Jeph Loeb stated, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth. We’re thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with ‘Legion’ continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation.”

A perfect fit indeed! I've got say, while Glover has clearly surpassed the age of representing Miles Morales on the big screen, I do appreciate that he's finding other ways to get involved in the ever-present comics-to-film boom. For the moment, no voice actors have been cast for this yet-to-be-titled and exciting animated project.

What's a clever title that you would give to the new animated DEADPOOL show? Let us know in the comments section below!
