One Avengers: Infinity War actor bids farewell to his character

**SPOILER ALERT FOR INFINITY WAR**

By the time credits rolled on AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR plenty of characters had bit the dust if you get my meaning. By that, I mean numerous superheroes literally turned into dust after Thanos (Josh Brolin) wiped out half of life in the universe. Of all the characters who died in the movie, some may come back by the end of AVENGERS 4, but one actor seems to be saying goodbye to his character for good.

The actor in question is Idris Elba, who has been playing the "Thor" character Heimdall since the first movie back in 2011. Unlike the characters who went all “Dust in the Wind,” several characters went out in more violent ways, including Heimdall taking a spear to the heart from Thanos. In a Twitter post, Elba bid farewell to Heimdall, saying he was going to miss the protector of the Bifrost.

There is a lot of speculation going around that those died at the very end could come back at the end of AVENGERS 4 should the effects of Thanos’ acts be reversed, but some believe those who died as Heimdall did (including Loki and Gamora) are gone for good. The writers of the movie said we should accept the deaths of all the characters, as AVENGERS 4 won’t fix things the way we think it will.

As for Elba, it seems like he’s genuinely ready to say goodbye to the character. In the past he’s expressed how he’s like playing the character, but that he perhaps wanted more out of the work. "I wish I was more present in the Marvel family,” he said. “I like what I have, but I also wish that I had a bigger character in the Marvel universe.” He did have a lot of fun on THOR: RAGNAROK, saying “The last one [Ragnarok] was fun. The others weren’t fun. They’re work. But on this one, Taika [Waititi, the director] was great."

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is in theaters now.
